FOB / CIF Export Cost Calculator
Get an instant, indicative cost breakdown for exporting bulk products from India. Select a product, quantity, and destination country to see estimated FOB value, ocean freight, marine insurance, and total CIF cost.
How this estimator works
The FOB value is derived from our published per-grade price bands for each product. Ocean freight and marine insurance are indicative ranges for the India → destination lane you select, based on typical FCL bulk-cargo shipping costs. Adding those together gives an estimated CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) value — the total landed cost at the destination port, before customs duty.
Not sure what FOB, CIF, or the other Incoterms mean for your order? See our full shipping & Incoterms guide for a breakdown of FOB, CIF, EXW, DAP, and DDP, plus our end-to-end export process.
What this estimate does not include
- Destination customs duty, import GST/VAT, or anti-dumping duties — these depend on your country’s current tariff schedule for the specific HS code and can change without notice.
- Port handling, demurrage, or last-mile inland delivery charges at destination.
- Any preferential tariff rate you may qualify for under a trade agreement (e.g. India–ASEAN FTA, India–UAE CEPA).
For country-specific compliance requirements, ports, and typical lead times, see our export markets guide or the destination-specific pages for the USA, UK, Germany, UAE, Canada, and Australia.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between FOB and CIF?
FOB (Free On Board) means the seller’s price covers the goods up to loading at the Indian port — the buyer arranges and pays for ocean freight and insurance from there. CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) means the seller’s price already includes ocean freight and marine insurance to the destination port, so the buyer pays one bundled figure.
Does this calculator include customs duty or GST?
No. Import duty, GST/VAT, and port handling charges at the destination are set by that country’s customs authority and vary by HS code and current tariff schedule, so we don’t estimate them here to avoid giving you an inaccurate number. Your customs broker or the destination country’s customs portal can confirm the exact duty for your HS code.
How accurate is the freight estimate?
The freight and insurance figures are indicative planning ranges based on typical FCL ocean-freight bands for the lane, not a live carrier quote. Actual freight depends on the shipping line, season, container type, and current surcharges. Use the Request Exact Quote button to get a firm, binding figure from our logistics team.
What quantity should I enter?
Enter your planned order quantity in metric tons (MT). Each product page shows its minimum order quantity (MOQ) — the calculator shows the MOQ for your selected product so you can check your quantity meets it.
