About Dates
Dates are the fruit of the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera), cultivated across the arid belt from North Africa to South Asia. The date trade is intensely seasonal and culturally driven: demand peaks sharply ahead of Ramadan, when dates are the traditional fruit for breaking the fast. Indian processors leverage this with massive Ramadan repacking and distribution programmes — importing bulk dates from the Gulf, then cleaning, fumigating, grading, pitting, stuffing and retail-packing them under buyer or private-label brands for export to Muslim-majority and diaspora markets worldwide.
